Round 11 v Penrith

First Grade took on Penrith at Waitara and found themselves in some trouble at 4/30 early in their innings. However, all-rounders Eve and Nelson salvaged the wreck and steered the total passed 300 to have NDs in a commanding position going into Week 2. Eve scored 117 and Nelson managed 70.

Second Grade also batted, and were in similar trouble early with the ball swinging and seeming early. Skipper Ed McMahon scored 70 batting at number 3, and was the main contributor, alongside tail order batsman Matt Johnson who scored 63. NDs were all out for 256, and have Penrith 1/7 after a Chris Peebles wicket late in the day.

Third Grade had a tough day at the office as Penrith carved out 330 on a flat Asquith deck. Joe Audet was the form bowler, taking 3/81 off 30 overs.

Fourth Grade fielded first in their clash at Cook Park and looked like they would be chasing a score well in excess of 300 when Penrith cruise to 3/240 with an hour of play remaining. However, NDs fought back hard to have Penrith 7/280 at stumps.

Fifth Grade batted first at Sommerville, and were all out for 255. Debuntant Max Sleeman scored a well earned 40* batting at 10, and also took a catch behind the stumps late in the day to have Penrith 1/4 going into week 2.

CLEAN SWEEP
Round 11 saw NDs take all points on offer in the matches against Western Suburbs. This is the first time in quite a few years that all 5 teams have taken the points, and what a great way to start the new year !
